Market Chatter: Oracle Cites Force Majeure as New Mexico Data Center Faces Delays

By

Oracle (ORCL) issued a force majeure notice to Project Jupiter's developer, a unit of Blue Owl Capital (OWL), seeking to defer payments if its planned New Mexico data center is delayed and fails to come online in 2028 as planned, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, Oracle is not seeking to exit the project but is protecting its contractual position if construction is delayed, while saying Project Jupiter remains on schedule and that it remains fully committed to New Mexico.

The 2.45-gigawatt data-center campus has faced regulatory setbacks, with the natural gas pipeline intended to supply the project delayed by nearly six months, to Feb. 1, 2027, following repeated permit denials by the New Mexico State Land Office, Bloomberg added.

Oracle shares were down 4% in premarket activity.

Oracle did not immediately respond to requests for comment from.
