Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are continuing despite heightened risks, with tankers shifting cargoes to vessels outside the strategic waterway, according to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday.
A total of 12 ship-to-ship transfers were reportedly detected Monday along over 100 kilometers of coastline off Oman and the UAE.
At least four supertankers carrying about 8 million barrels of crude were tracked after transiting Hormuz since Saturday.
The transfers are helping maintain oil flows and ease pressure on global supplies, though attacks have increased risks for operators. Tanker earnings on a key route have approached $500,000 per day, Bloomberg said.
