Mitsubishi Motors (TYO:7211) plans to invest an additional 16 billion baht in Thailand by 2030 to boost its operations as a production and export hub for electrified vehicles, Nikkei Asia reported Friday, citing Chairman and CEO Takao Kato during a courtesy visit to Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
The investment is expected to support production and exports of electrified models, with particular focus on the Pajero sport utility vehicle and pickup trucks, the report said.
Shares of the Japanese automaker rose nearly 4% in recent trade.
