Mitsubishi (TYO:8058) will join forces with the US-based grain company Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) to explore sustainable aviation fuel production by using soybeans and corn, Nikkei reported on Monday, citing Mitsubishi President Katsuya Nakanishi.
The Japanese trading house plans to begin trials with the world's second-largest grain company and is also considering over 100 billion yen investments in food-related businesses, including livestock processing and fertilizers, by 2027, according to the publication.
The initiative could also involve Mitsubishi's US grain-trading subsidiary Agrex, covering grain procurement, oil extraction, and SAF production, the report said.
