Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek (TPE:2454) is increasing its workforce, joining other tech firms in easing fears over AI-driven job losses, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing senior vice president Vince Hu.
Hu told Bloomberg Television the company, which supplies parts for Nvidia's Spark PC chip, is optimistic about growth and sees strong data center orders through at least 2030.
Speaking at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Hu disclosed plans to expand engineering staff, echoing Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's message that AI will augment rather than replace tech industry jobs, the publication said.
MediaTek expects AI chip revenue to reach roughly $2 billion this year and multiply by 2027, aiming to capture up to 15% of an $80 billion data center market next year, the report said.
