Marvell Technology is in talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TPE:2330) to adopt its A14, or 1.4-nanometer, process, targeting mass production by 2028, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing Marvell President and COO Chris Koopmans.
Marvell currently uses TSMC's 3-nm node for digital signal processors and is transitioning to 2-nm for data center interconnects, according to the report.
Marvell has committed about $1 billion in prepayments to secure TSMC's capacity, the report said.
Data center products now drive over 75% of Marvell's revenue, up from under 10% in 2016, the newswire said.
