Natural gas has helped shield the US power market from oil price gains linked to the Iran conflict, leaving the sector "fairly protected," LS Power chief executive officer Paul Segal told Bloomberg in a Friday interview.
The US has largely moved away from oil for power generation and now depends heavily on natural gas, Segal said.
He added that strong shale output has kept gas prices relatively subdued while the grid needs more natural gas, solar and battery capacity.
LS Power did not immediately reply to' request for comment.
