Kyushu Railway (TYO:9142) has teamed up with SBI Holdings (TYO:8473) to move into financial services, with the deal expected as early as Friday and services planned for the next fiscal year, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday.
SBI is building a Kyushu-branded app that will offer banking, securities, insurance, and cryptocurrency products, starting with access to banking functions at SBI subsidiary SBI Shinsei Bank, the news agency said.
The tie-up uses a banking-as-a-service model, with Kyushu acting as SBI Shinsei's banking agent, the publication said.
Kyushu and SBI did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
