Market Chatter: Kyushu Kumamoto International Airport to Launch Thailand Flights in Three Years

The operator of the privatized Kumamoto Airport, the Kyushu Kumamoto International Airport, plans to launch flights to Thailand in three years while it currently explores routes to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, Nikkei Asia reported Sunday.

At present, the Kumamoto prefectural airport operates six international routes, connecting to Taiwan and South Korea. The airport plans to raise it to 11, the report said.

The airport authority is working with airlines and travel agencies to begin a Bangkok route by the fiscal year ending March 2030. Charter flights may be operated ahead of the timeline, it said.
