KT (KRX:030200) has joined a government-led research project to develop design and construction solutions for fully automated and AI-managed factories, The Korea Times reported on Thursday, citing the company.

The project falls under a Ministry of Science and ICT initiative to build a research and development ecosystem for a software platform based on collaborative intelligence and physical AI, the news daily said.

KT aims to build a dark factory near Jeonbuk Innovation City in North Jeolla Province, the publication said.

Other joint research institutions for the project include the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, LG Energy Solution(KRX:373220), Harim Foods, Shinsung E&G (KRX:011930), and the Korea Productivity Center, the report said.
