Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is set to travel to the northeastern Indian state of Assam in early July, bringing with her executives from more than 50 Japanese firms and organizations, Nikkei reported on Thursday.
The delegation will include major corporate names, including Suzuki Motor (TYO:7269), trading house Itochu (TYO:8001), and Toyota Tsusho (TYO:8015), the trading arm of Toyota Motor (TYO:7203), the news agency said.
Several participants are expected to formalize partnership agreements during the visit, which is tentatively anchored around July 1 in the city of Guwahati, the publication said.
Both Tokyo and New Delhi are coordinating a program of meetings and business forums to maximize the diplomatic and commercial outcomes of the trip, the report said.
