Market Chatter: Iran Offers Strait of Hormuz Reopening in Return for US De-Escalation

By

Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US eases military pressure and lifts its blockade on Iranian ports, a senior Iranian official told Reuters Tuesday.

Tehran wants Washington to formally commit to diplomacy and agree on a timeline for talks after delivering a proposal through mediators on Sept. 16, the official said.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will not meet US President Donald Trump at the UN, while Tehran remains open to diplomacy if Washington takes tangible steps, the official added.
