India has requested guarantees from the United States that it will not face Section 301 investigations after signing a trade agreement, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.
A final deal will only follow the completion of US probes into forced labor and excess capacity, though their timelines remain uncertain, the newswire said.
Officials in New Delhi are also seeking preferential tariff treatment over competitors, while the US has proposed tariffs of at least 10% on imports from 60 nations, the publication said.
An interim pact, initially expected by March, was delayed due to a US Supreme Court ruling, the report said.
