Hyundai Motor Company (KRX:005380) is expanding its monthly vehicle-related subscription plans for features and components to accelerate its recurring revenue beyond vehicle sales, the Korea JoongAng Daily reported Tuesday.
Hyundai Motor plans to launch a pilot electric-vehicle battery subscription program in October, while Tesla Korea plans to launch its Full Self-Driving Supervised driver assistance feature as a monthly subscription in August.
The services include subscriptions for electric vehicle batteries, software, and maintenance services, which lower the upfront ownership costs and create new long-term income streams.
Hyundai Motor did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
