Huawei Technologies on Thursday will introduce its Ascend 960 AI chip at its Shanghai summit, with commercial availability planned for 2027, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday.

Rotating Chair Wang Tao will present the new processor as Huawei pushes to replace Nvidia in China and expand globally despite U.S. export restrictions, according to the report.

Supervisory board Chair Guo Ping said Huawei aims for its Ascend chips to run every AI model, closing gaps through architecture innovation, Bloomberg wrote. The upgraded iteration, Ascend 970, is planned for 2028.
