HSBC Holdings (HSBA.L) bought at least $3 billion of Indian government bonds in July and August, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the developments.
The British lender reportedly used funds raised through the Reserve Bank of India's foreign currency non-resident, or FCNR(B), dollar-deposit program to finance the purchases.
HSBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
