Tensions between HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (KRX:329180) and the labor union soured after the latter backed demands related to performance sharing of at least 30% of operating profit during wage negotiations, South Korea's Maeil Business reported on Friday.
The union voted in favor of a strike, with 5,607, or 68.99%, of its 8,127 members participating in the industrial action vote held between Aug. 25 and Aug. 27. Of those who voted, 5,379 members backed the strike.
Among the other union demands are a 149,600 won monthly increase in base pay, excluding regular seniority-based raises, and a 100% increase in bonuses, the report said.
