Major international energy companies including US based Chevron (CVX), India's ONGC, Italy's Eni (E), GE Vernova (GEV), and Colombia's GeoPark are close to signing final agreements for energy projects in Venezuela, Reuters reported on Monday.
Chevron's agreements are expected to be substantial, with the company looking to add a block in the Orinoco Belt to expand its joint ventures with state-run PDVSA, while targeting the Monagas North area for essential diluents, the report said.
Meanwhile, GeoPark has advanced discussions regarding the Bare heavy oilfield, which could unlock up to 1 billion barrels of reserves. Eni is likewise coordinating local efforts to support sector revitalization alongside its existing assets, it stated.
None of the parties involved responded immediately torequests for comments.
