France has begun imposing penalties on ultra-fast-fashion products sold by e-commerce platforms including Shein (HKG:0625) and Temu, as it seeks to address the environmental impact of overproduction, Reuters reported Tuesday.
The penalties, introduced under a fast-fashion law passed in June, range from 0.25 euros for items such as socks and boxer shorts to 12 euros for coats, according to the report.
The charges are capped at 50% of a product's pre-tax selling price, the report added.
Shein and Temu did not immediately respond to' requests for comment.
