Fire crews responded Friday to a blaze at Vistra's (VST) damaged battery storage facility in Moss Landing, California, where three battery racks were burning, Bloomberg reported.
About 30 firefighters and a hazardous materials crew were reportedly dispatched to the site in Monterey County, where a major fire in January 2025 prompted local evacuations.
Vistra said workers reported a "flare-up" on the building's north side at about 6 am. The company temporarily shut down its natural gas plant as a precaution and activated air-quality monitors around the site and the nearby community.
Vistra and the North County Fire Protection District did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
