Market Chatter: Escorts Kubota Breaks Ground on $200 Million Manufacturing Plant in India

Kubota's (TYO:6326) majority-owned joint venture, Escorts Kubota (NSE:ESCORTS, BOM:500495) in India, broke ground on a new $200 million manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh, India, and plans to expand its manufacturing capacity and exports to Europe, Africa, and North America, Nikkei Asia reported Saturday.

The Japanese agricultural machinery company enjoys a cost advantage using its Indian manufacturing base, which produces tractors, farm implements, construction equipment, and engines for domestic and global markets, the report said.

In its first phase, the new facility will increase capacity by up to 60,000 tractors and 15,000 construction equipment units annually.
