Italy's Eni (E) aims to eventually increase production from its Venezuelan operations to over 1 million barrels per day, including volumes from state oil company PDVSA, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.
Eni is reportedly expected to announce an agreement with PDVSA on Wednesday to develop the giant Junin 5 heavy-oil field, with Eni becoming its exclusive operator.
The project could reach about 400,000 b/d by the end of the decade, requiring roughly $1.5 billion in annual investment. The deal is part of a broader US-backed push to revive Venezuela's oil industry.
Eni did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
