France's EDF is weighing a preferred-equity structure to attract investors for a minority stake sale in Italian utility Edison, after disruptions to LNG supplies linked to the US-Iran conflict undermined its options for an initial public offering, Reuters reported on Friday.
The state-owned utility firm has spent months considering an IPO of Edison as it seeks to raise funds to finance new nuclear reactors and support its aging domestic fleet.
However, Edison's long-term LNG supply agreement with QatarEnergy has complicated the process after Qatar halted deliveries in April amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
EDF is expected to reassess its strategic options for Edison at the end of September.has reached out to EDF for comments.
