Market Chatter: Chubu Electric Chiefs to Step Down Over Rigged Earthquake Simulation Data

Chubu Electric Power (TYO:9502) President Shingo Hayashi and Chairman Satoshi Katsuno will step down over falsification of earthquake simulation data linked to its Hamaoka nuclear power plant, NHK One reported Sunday, citing sources.

In April, a company report ordered by Japanese authorities found at least 80 cases of manipulated seismic data and ignored internal warnings.

The company on Sunday said on its website that no such decision has been made.

Chubu Electric Power did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.

Market Chatter: Korea Exchange to Extend Trading Hours till 8PM

South Korea's main stock market, the Korea Exchange, will enable trading till 8 pm following the regular close at 3:30 pm from Monday, in its move toward 24-hour trading, Bloomberg News reported Sunday.This decision opens 2,400 Korea Composite Stock Price Index, or Kospi, and Kosdaq stocks for evening trades, which include short-selling.
