China has renewed import licenses for hundreds of US beef processing plants, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing sources.
The timing coincided with high-stakes talks between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
The licenses lapsed last year after Trump hiked tariffs against China, leading to a 67% drop in US beef shipments between 2024 and 2025, the report said, citing data from the US Department of Agriculture.
Permits are generally granted for five-year terms, Reuters said.
