Chevron (CVX) is considering expansion of liquefied natural gas portfolio in Argentina, East Mediterranean, Australia and Africa to increase alternative supplies for buyers affected by the Middle East conflict, Reuters reported Monday, citing Chevron Global Gas President Freeman Shaheen.
The company's LNG supply is currently estimated at around 20 million metric tons, 16 mmt of which comes from its projects and the remaining 4 mmt comes from contracts in the US Gulf Coast, the report said.
New expansion opportunities will be analyzed and ranked against other projects, including the $7 billion allocation to double Venezuelan crude output, Shaheen told Reuters on the sidelines of the Gastech conference in Bangkok.
Chevron, which is also seeing opportunities in India, did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
