Chevron (CVX) has signed a 20-year agreement with Microsoft (MSFT) to supply natural gas-fired power for a planned West Texas data center campus, Bloomberg reported Monday.
The project, known as Project Kilby, is expected to begin supplying power in 2028 and eventually reach 2.67 gigawatts of capacity, according to the report.
Chevron and Engine No. 1 plan to make a final investment decision later this year, Bloomberg reported, adding that the facility will use natural gas from the Permian Basin and operate independently of the power grid.
Chevron and Microsoft did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
