Chevron is pursuing additional US data center power projects after signing a long-term agreement to supply electricity to Microsoft's planned West Texas campus through its gas-fired Project Kilby, Reuters reported on Friday.
The company is reportedly evaluating opportunities in West Texas, the Midwest, the Gulf Coast, the Rockies, and Utah, where demand is rising as artificial intelligence drives rapid data center expansion.
Chevron expects a final investment decision on the 2.67-gigawatt Project Kilby by year-end, with first power targeted for 2028, the report said.
