The Contemporary Amperex Technology (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) and Stellantis joint venture gigafactory in Aragon, Spain, will employ an average of 1,000 Chinese workers during its construction phase, Reuters reported Monday, citing regional president Jorge Azcon.
Currently, 500 workers are on site. These include 172 Chinese specialists in design and management roles, with numbers expected to peak at 1,700, according to the report. The joint venture, named Contemporary Star Energy, will train 4,000 local Aragonese workers to staff the plant at full capacity.
Production has been postponed to begin in the first months of 2027 from the initial forecast of end-2026, Reuters wrote.
