Market Chatter: CATL Orders Fluctuate Following China's Battery Tax

Contemporary Amperex Technology's (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) orders fluctuated since the implementation of China's consumption tax on batteries effective September, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a speech by Chief Technology Officer for Domestic Energy Storage Solutions Lin Jiubiao.

The impact on the world's largest battery maker has been limited, as CATL has also tapped into new demand, the report said, citing Lin.

China levied a 2% tax on lithium-ion batteries starting Sept. 1, which will then rise to 4% exactly a year after, Bloomberg said.
