Petrobras (PBR) has no plans to increase its stake in Braskem unless other shareholders match any future capital injection, CEO Magda Chambriard said Thursday at the ROG.e oil conference in Rio de Janeiro, according to a Bloomberg report.
Petrobras executive William Franca, who sits on Braskem's board, had earlier said the company could reach a creditor agreement to reduce its roughly $11 billion debt burden and avoid bankruptcy.
Braskem plans to seek board approval Friday for a revised proposal before taking it to creditors, the report added, citing Valor Economico's Pipeline.
Petrobras and Braskem did not immediately reply to' request for comment.
