The Bank of Japan is considering raising interest rates, with a final call to be taken at its scheduled policy meeting on Sept. 17 and 18, Reuters reported Friday, citing three people familiar with the thinking.
The rate hike could accelerate the pace of tightening from the current level of roughly twice yearly and reflects growing concerns about price pressures from the ongoing Middle East conflict, strong artificial intelligence demand, and a weak yen.
