Apple (AAPL) is preparing a major change to its Mac processor strategy by moving its high-end chips directly to a new AI-focused M7 generation, skipping premium versions of the upcoming M6 line, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
The company still plans to introduce a base M6 chip as early as this year for entry-level Macs, though it will forgo the usual Pro and Max variants and instead roll out M7-based Pro and Max processors in 2027, offering more advanced computing and graphics performance, the report said.
