Anthropic has renegotiated its pricing arrangement with Amazon (AMZN), shifting the e-commerce and cloud company to a token-based billing model from one tied to compute hours, The Information reported Monday, citing two people with knowledge of the discussions.
The change, set to take effect next year, could significantly increase Amazon's costs for using Anthropic models across its AI products, according to the report.
Amazon is evaluating alternative AI models, including those from OpenAI and its own Nova lineup, to help offset potential cost increases, the report added.
Amazon and Anthropic did not immediately respond to requests for comment from.
