Chinese AI startup Manus will return to independent operations after the collapse of its proposed $2 billion acquisition by Meta Platforms, according to a blog post on Tuesday.
The deal, initially announced in December 2025, was abandoned after Chinese regulators launched an investigation into potential violations of foreign investment rules.
As Manus undergoes the transition back to an independent entity, the company notified users of data maintenance that may affect their accounts.
Some data generated on or after Dec. 29, 2025 will be deleted from Aug. 23 to Aug. 24. Affected users will be able to back up their data until Aug. 23 and restore it starting Aug. 25.
