Malaysian shares closed slightly lower Wednesday amidst profit-taking following a two-day winning streak. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI slid 0.4% or 7.07 points to close at 1,676.43.
The Asian Development Bank raised its 2026 growth forecast for Malaysia while keeping its inflation outlook unchanged. In its Asian Development Outlook update Wednesday, the ADB projected GDP growth of 4.9% in 2026, up from 4.6% in July. For 2027, growth was revised to 4.7% from 4.5%.
In corporate news, GB Bond's (KLSE:GBBOND) public issue of 20.6 million shares was oversubscribed 8.22 times, with 5,333 applications for 190 million shares.
Carimin Petroleum (KLSE:CARIMIN) fell over 1% after unit Sri Borneo Energy agreed to acquire leasehold land and buildings in Sarawak for RM21.1 million in cash.
Sum Technology (KLSE:SUM) agreed to acquire a 51% stake in INI Technologies for RM2 million. Shares gained marginally.
