Malaysian Shares Extend Losses Mirroring Downbeat Regional Sentiment

Malaysian shares ended in the red on Monday, erasing gains from the previous session, and bucking a positive regional performance.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, shed 20.92 points to end 1.2% lower at 1,679.92.

In corporate news, shares of Kerjaya Prospek Group (KLSE:KERJAYA) slid over 2% on Tuesday's close after its unit Kerjaya Prospek (M)secured a 488.4 million ringgit building contract from Persada Mentari for a development project in Penang, Malaysia.

Shares of Theta Edge (KLSE:THETA) slid about 1% on close after it decided to abort its proposed private placement of up to 23.6 million shares, representing about 20% of its existing issued share capital. The company said the decision was made after board deliberation, citing plans to explore alternative fundraising avenues that could potentially raise higher proceeds.

Topmix (KLSE:TOPMIX) unit Luma International launched a digital renovation platform, myRuma. The platform combines financing, quality checks, risk coverage, and a network of vetted contractors to make renovation services more structured and easier to manage for homeowners. Shares ended flat today.
