Malaysia Smelting (SGX:NPW, KLSE:MSC) unit Rahman Hydraulic Tin has temporarily suspended mining operations following a directive from the Perak Department of Minerals and Geosciences.
The suspension took effect Aug. 12, after an extreme rainfall event damaged drainage facilities and overwhelmed retention ponds at the mine in Perak, Malaysia, according to a Tuesday Singapore Exchange filing.
Rahman Hydraulic Tin has started repair and upgrading works and is working with the authorities on a remedial action plan.
The suspension will remain until further notice, while the financial impact cannot yet be determined, it said.
