Malayan Banking's Profit Rises in Q2

Malayan Banking (KLSE:MAYBANK) said its profit attributable to owners grew to 2.69 billion ringgit in the second quarter, from 2.63 billion ringgit a year earlier.

Basic earnings per share went up to 0.2224 ringgit from 0.2175 ringgit a year ago, according to a Thursday Malaysian bourse filing.

Revenue declined to 16.08 billion ringgit during the period from 17.08 billion ringgit a year ago, the Malaysian lender said.

The company declared a single-tier second interim cash dividend of 0.31 ringgit per share, up from 0.30 ringgit per share a year earlier.

Shares of the lender slipped over 1% in early afternoon trade Thursday.

Qantas Airways to Start Retiring A380 Fleet in 2028; Shares Gain 4%

Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) will start retiring its Airbus A380 airliner fleet in 2028, replacing it with aircraft that can fly further and operate on all of the airline's international network routes, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.The company is in talks with Airbus and Boeing to convert around 20 of its purchase right options to firm orders starting from 2030, per the filing."This fleet renewal is expected to significantly improve Qantas International's earnings performance and reduce operational complexity," with its operating margin forecast to increase to between 10% and 12% from fiscal 2032, the company said.Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson said the company took delivery of 17 new aircraft in fiscal 2026 with up to 31 more to arrive in the year ahead.The company's shares gained 4% in recent Thursday trade.
