Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) formed a strategic partnership with Anthropic and GIC to establish Theseus Infrastructure, a new platform to develop, operate, and lease data center infrastructure at scale to Anthropic under long-term agreements, according to a combined statement from the parties late Monday.
The parties will work together to identify and develop new sites for which Anthropic will be the anchor tenant, with an initial focus on the US, with funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management and GIC owning the platform and funding the majority of the equity for each project.
The planned developments will require "significant" capital investment and create "thousands" of construction jobs and permanent operational roles, per the statement. Anthropic will cover electricity price increases that consumers may otherwise face from the sites, in line with commitments announced earlier this year.
