Luye Pharma Group (HKG:2186) said a mid-stage study of LY03015 in China met its main goal, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.
The firm was studying the drug as a treatment for tardive dyskinesia and chorea associated with Huntington's disease.
According to results from the phase 2 trial, subjects receiving the strongest dose of LY03015 reported a response rate of 76.5%, nearly double the historical data for current first-line drugs, the firm said.
Subjects also saw a "significant improvement" in symptoms and minimal rebound following treatment cessation.
Based on the results, the firm said it now plans to advance the drug into phase 3 clinical trials in both China and the U.S.
