Lifenet Insurance's (TYO:7157) annualized premium of policies-in-force rose 7% year over year to 38.1 billion yen at the end of August, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Premiums from individual insurance increased 7% to 29.4 billion yen, while group credit life insurance climbed 8% to 8.69 billion yen.
The number of individual policies in force grew to 705,649 from 654,895 a year earlier. New business premiums rose to 249 million yen from 240 million yen, with new contracts increasing to 6,478 from 6,129.
Insurance claims and benefits totaled 712 million yen in August, down from 716 million yen a year earlier, while the surrender and lapse ratio fell to 5.2% from 5.3%.
