Kyocera Q1 Profit Surges 63%; Raises Full-Year Guidance

By

Kyocera (TYO:6971) posted a 63% year-over-year increase in attributable net profit for the fiscal first quarter to 60.6 billion yen from 37.1 billion yen.

The ceramics manufacturer's basic earnings per share were 46.20 yen, compared with 26.37 yen a year earlier, according to a Tokyo Stock Exchange filing on Thursday.

Sales revenue climbed 9.9% to 525.4 billion yen for the three months ended June 30 from 478.0 billion yen a year ago.

In a separate filing, the company raised its full-year attributable profit forecast to 160 billion yen from 141 billion yen, EPS to 122.04 yen from 102.73 yen, and sales revenue to 2.08 trillion yen from 1.94 trillion yen.

The revision was driven by earlier-than-anticipated demand growth in AI and semiconductor-related markets, as well as yen depreciation.

The company plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 28 yen per share, each, for the current fiscal year, which is higher than the amount paid in the year-ago period.
