Kratos Defense & Security (KTOS) said Thursday it won a US Army contract to develop an advanced seeker for the Javelin close combat missile system.
The company will build a new infrared guidance component to replace outdated technology while increasing the weapon's effectiveness, according to a statement.
The work will take place at a facility in Birmingham, Alabama, with evaluations planned for government locations, Kratos said.
Shares of the company were up over 5% in Thursday trading.
