Kolon Global Faces Partial Work Suspension After Construction Fatality

Kolon (KRX:002020) subsidiary Kolon Global (KRX:003070) has been issued a partial work suspension order following a fatal accident at its Cheongju Dongnam public housing construction site, according to a bourse filing on Monday.

The work stoppage follows an industrial accident on Aug. 11, where a worker suffered a fatal fall during the dismantling of safety railings to install vertical safety nets.

South Korean police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor plan to carry out on-site investigations and establish prevention measures.

Samsung Heavy Industries (KRX:010140) secured a 444.5 billion won contract to build two container ships for an unnamed African buyer, according to a filing with the Korean bourse on Monday.The contract is valid from Aug. 28, 2026, to Dec. 27, 2028.
