Kogan.com (ASX:KGN) and other online marketplaces have accepted takedown requests issued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for toys and games that contain potentially deadly small magnets, the regulator said Tuesday.
The ACCC sent the requests to Kogan.com, Amazon, eBay, and Fruugo after an investigation revealed that sellers are listing toy products containing certain banned high-powered magnets that can cause injury or death if swallowed.
The online retailers have committed to preventing listings of such products and to warn impacted customers about the safety risks, the ACCC said.
"We urge all online and bricks and mortar businesses to review their toys and games immediately and to act quickly to conduct a recall and provide refunds if non-compliant products are identified," ACCC Deputy Chair Catriona Lowe said.
