Kobe Bussan's June Sales Rise 5.4%

Kobe Bussan's (TYO:3038) June net sales reached 47.5 billion yen, up 5.4% on a non-consolidated basis, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The supermarket operator's gross profit slipped 3.2% to 4.82 billion yen, while operating profit fell 12% to 2.8 billion yen.

The Gyomu Super operator opened one direct-managed and one indirectly-run stores in the month, bringing its network to 1,139 locations. There were no closures.

Shipments to existing stores in directly managed areas increased 3%, and nationwide shipments rose 5.8% from a year earlier.
