Japanese shares advanced at Wednesday's open as analysts viewed the recent plunge in AI-related stocks as an attractive entry point.
The Nikkei 225 rose 369.8 points or 0.6% to 62,734.68 at the opening bell.
Goldman Sachs Japan on Wednesday told Bloomberg News that the sharp downturn in tech shares may have run its course.
Meanwhile, renewed Middle East hostilities pushed Brent crude up roughly 5% to surpass US$87 a barrel, snapping a three-day slide, after the U.S. military reported intercepting an Iranian attack attempt on regional forces.
The escalation followed a period of relative calm that had sent Brent crude to its steepest three-day drop since April 2020.
