Japanese shares started the week on a positive note, as the nation recorded its third consecutive expansion.
The Nikkei 225 advanced 168 points, a 0.2% gain, to open Monday's session at 68,882.06.
Official data released Monday revealed that Japan's economic expansion decelerated more than anticipated in the second quarter, driven by persistent weakness in business investment amid Middle East tensions.
GDP rose at a 1.1% annualized pace, cooling from the prior quarter's 1.9% growth.
