Japanese stocks opened higher on Friday as inflation slowed for the first time in four months.
The Nikkei 225 rose 545.3 points, or 0.9%, to open at 64,681.55.
Japan's core inflation eased to 1.7% in August from 1.8% in July, the first slowdown in four months, according to official government data.
The data was released ahead of the Bank of Japan's interest rate decision later today.
Elsewhere, Brent crude dropped for a third straight day to around $104.00 a barrel.
